TWO IMPORTANT OBJECTIVES OF ADMINISTRATIVE SYSTEM

LAW AND ORDER:

  • Maintaining law and order is the responsibility of state governments. The law and order means – to ensure that all legal provisions are being respected by all individuals. Laws can be made from many mediums such as an Act of Parliament, the State Legislature Act, Presidential Ordinances, laws passed by the authorized authorities, laws passed by the authorized institutions, etc.
  • Every state has established a police force, which is ultimately responsible for maintaining law and order within the geographical boundaries of the state. Technically, under the role of maintaining law and order, the police force has the following four important responsibilities:
    1. Prevention of Crime – The police force handles this responsibility through vigilance, activism and its effective presence in that area.
    1. Investigation of Crime – If a crime occurs, the police investigates the crime and collects relevant evidence and facts.
    1. Prosecution of Offenses – Under this responsibility, the charge sheet is filed by the police in the court. Then, it tries to give relevant evidences in terms of the charge sheet so that the court could convict the accused and punish him methodically.
    1. Public Order – In addition to maintaining Law and Order, the police force is also responsible for maintaining the public order. It includes traffic management, public management, disaster management, etc.

INTERNAL SECURITY:

  • Maintaining the internal security of the country is the responsibility of the central government. Internal security refers to:
    1. Maintain unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
    1. Keep safe and secure all citizens of the country by anti–national elements.
    1. Protect international borders and sea borders from the challenges of internal security.
    1. Preserve economic and geopolitical interests of the country.
    1. Maintain the cultural image of the country.
  • The central government maintains the internal security of the country with the help of central police forces and other central agencies such as CBI, CISF, BSF, IB, etc.
